The Mass General/North Shore Cancer Center is the new, expanded home of the former NSMC Cancer Center, which joined Mass General in the Danvers location in June, 2009.
Patients receive comprehensive outpatient cancer care that does not require an overnight stay in the hospital from two of the country's most distinguished medical centers, Massachusetts General Hospital and North Shore Medical Center.
Our physicians and nursing care teams are nationally recognized for their expertise in all aspects of breast, prostate, lung, skin and digestive disease cancer care and apply the latest advances in the field to screening and prevention, diagnosis, medical and surgical treatment and rehabilitation.
Our facility includes:
- 24 infusion bays for chemotherapy
- Three state-of-the-art linear accelerators for radiation therapy
- A dedicated blood lab and pharmacy just for our cancer patients
The infusion bays overlook tidal wetlands and a healing garden with a paved path, benches, fountain, and flowers and trees.

Wellness services can help patients by:
- Reducing stress and muscle tension
- Relieving side effects like insomnia, fatigue, pain, dry mouth and chemotherapy-related nausea.
Through the HOPES Program we offer:
- Free brief massage, ear acupuncture and Reiki sessions to patients during their cancer treatment appointments. These services are available at certain hours during the week. To sign up, talk to your nurse.
- An Acupuncture Clinic for patients on Mondays from 8:30 am - 12:30 pm. Each one-hour session of full-body acupuncture costs $52. An Acupuncture and Massage Clinic is also available in downtown Boston.
The HOPES Program also offers free workshops to help you feel better. Call the HOPES Program at (617) 724-6737 to ask any questions or to set up a clinic appointment.
The NSMC Wellness and Integrative Medicine Department also offers free or discounted wellness services for cancer patients.
Images Boutique caters to adult and pediatric cancer patients to help them feel comfortable with their appearance during and after cancer treatment. They offer a variety of specialized products, including:
- Hair alternatives, including a large selection of wigs, hats, scarves, turbans and hair pieces
- Specially formulated skin care products for oncology patients
- Specialized apparel for women who have had a mastectomy
- Educational books and videos
- Relaxation tapes
- Aromatherapy products
- Jewelry
