Executive Director of Mass General/North Shore Center for Outpatient Care named

The Mass General/North Shore Center for Outpatient Care is pleased to announce that Elena Sierra, RN, MPH, has been named as its executive director. Sierra was previously the Director of Program Development for the Brigham and Women's/South Shore Hospital Physician and Network Expansion Department providing leadership to clinical affiliation initiatives in surgery, women's health, medicine, oncology and primary care.
Sierra earned both her Master of Public Health and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degrees from Boston University. Prior to her leadership role with the Brigham and Women's/South Shore Clinical Affiliation, she served as the Director for Ambulatory Gynecology Programs at Brigham and Women's Hospital.
“Mrs. Sierra’s diverse clinical, operational and program development experience will be a tremendous asset to the Mass General/North Shore Center for Outpatient Care,” said Robert G. Norton, president and CEO of North Shore Medical Center. “She is providing leadership to clinical and administrative teams to address the growing demand for outpatient care and build on a decades-long history of collaboration between Massachusetts General Hospital and North Shore Medical Center.”
Sierra, a long time Dedham, Mass. resident, says she is excited to be taking on this new challenge. “This is an amazing opportunity for me to work with a great leadership team, and establish a whole new model of health care for our community in this state-of-the-art facility,” she said. “As a nurse, I am looking forward to working very closely with patients and their families.”
The Mass General/North Shore Center for Outpatient Care is a 122,000-square-foot outpatient facility, located at 100 Endicott Street in Danvers. This sleek, modern facility will provide the latest in cardiac diagnostics, suites for outpatient and minimally invasive surgery, and advanced imaging services, as well as serve as the expanded home of the new Mass General/North Shore Cancer Center, a comprehensive cancer care center. The center is scheduled to open June 1, 2009.
Sierra lives in Dedham, Mass. with her husband, Claudio. She has two grown children, Francisco and Olivia.
